Please decide for me...

...because I can't decide which limerick I like best out of the amazing efforts below! if you could post the name of the writer who you think deserves to win, I'd be very grateful. Having just had a long week-end of kids, my brain hs turned to minestrone soup; all bitty and confused. I mean, there's tea towel at stake. This is important. I can't afford to get this wrong.

Please?

  1. OK, since you ask!
Joanna - for the best scansion and the most amusing punch-line.

  2. I'm with Alis. I do love joanna's last line, but I also liked Alan's; very clever

  3. I liked them all, but Alan's is my favourite.

    Are we helping at all?

  4. I go with the majority so far and vote for Joanna.
Sorry, Alan. But what would you want with a tea towel anyway?

  5. A toss-up between Alan and Joanna but I think Joanna just gets it with her punch line.

  6. Thanks for all the help. Yes - Joannna it is, by a whisker, but Alan is highly commended (sadly, they don't do miniature tea towels...). Thanks to those who entered.

Joanna - are you still at the same address? (For those who don't know, Joanna won my last limerick comp. I think I'll have to disqualify her next time to give others a chance!)

  7. Oh, thank you all so much! I'm very surprised and flattered by your lovely comments.

And thank you, Frances, for running the competition and for the tea-towel! I am actually addicted to tea-towels and don't have nearly enough. I used to buy them from men who came to the door and sold very poor-quality scissors and lint-removing roller-things and yellow dusters that shed their fluff. But the tea-towels were good. Then all the villagers put signs up in their windows saying they didn't buy at the door. And that was that. But I liked those men and their strange wares and miss them very much. A lot of them were ex-prisoners looking for a chance to make a fresh start. At least that's what they told me.
I am indeed at the same tea-towel-less address, Frances, and will refrain from entering the next competition. I shall look forward to reading all the other entries!
Grateful thanks once again to everyone for voting for me!

  8. It will be on its way to you this week, Joanna. Congratulations! And if I do this again, of course you must enter, and everyone else will just have to up their game!
