Cyber party

I suppose I have to be first, as it's my party. So I shall have a pint of bitter and a bag of pork scratchings, and I shall invite Desmond Tutu, because of his wonderful smile.

  1. Thanks for the invite, Frances. I've brought enough slow-smoked barbecue beef brisket for all to enjoy. And though I no longer partake in such pleasures myself, I've also brought a bottle of Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye whiskey, the finest spirit made in America, in my humble opinion. Here's to you, Frances!

  2. Oh, I almost forgot. I've invited as my guest, the ancient blues master B.B. King, and his guitar Lucille.

    Enjoy

  3. Congrats on joining the blog-sphere with your very own personal space to use and abuse, Frances - and thanks for the invite. Shocking I know, but I can only have a lemonade or a lime soda as I'll be driving tonight (I have childcare responsibilities to consider!)

  4. I'm up for bitter and pork scratchings - my absolute favourite. I'll be putting Boney M on the jukebox, though, I'm afraid.

  5. Hi, congratulations and thanks for the invite to the blog warming party. I have brought along Rene Descartes as a suitable virtual guest. (He drinks therefore he is.) I've also brought a whole case of Chateau Lafite - no virtual expense spared. And ... oh, I see you've already got some pork scratchings - still a few more won't go amiss. Who put that rubbish on the juke box though? I'll fetch my Abba tapes from the car.

  6. Oh please, Len, not Abba. You'll make us watch Mamma Mia next. And if that happens I'll be forced to pelt you with pork scratchings.

  7. Hi Frances, cyber air-kisses coming your way - mwah, mwah. I have brought elderflower champagne because I love it but will probably end up shamelessly drinking Len's Chateau Lafite... I'm bringing Wat Tyler because I've got about a million questions that only he can answer and this is my only chance but I don't think he'll have any truck with the pork scratchings so I'm going to introduce him to salt and vinegar crisps which will involve a whole conversation about potatoes and the new world... By the way, what's wrong with Abba and Mama Mia? Meryl Streep is on my reserve list in case Wat's busy...

  8. Do you know how many times a day I have to listen to people say that Mamma Mia is great and Meryl Streep is wonderful? Three times a day MINIMUM at the sports centre cafe. Every day since the film came out.

And that Julie Walters. She's a national treasure.

    (gnashes teeth)

This is why I don't get invited to parties.

  9. Thanks, everyone. And Matt, I'm sure Doug will drive you home, so have some of Len's posh wine. And Aliya - I SO agree about Mama Mia. We wanted to walk out, but were trapped by cheering children, so had to sit through the entire film (no, I don't know why we went, either). But you can bring Meryl Streep, Alis, because usually she's pretty good...

  10. I didn't like MM either but my ten-year old daughter and her friend thought it was wonderful so I enjoyed watching them.

May I have a largish glass of white, please.

  11. I happened to like Mamma Mia, but just the once. I also rather liked the French & Saunders spoof of it.

Is this party still swinging? I've brought along Christopher Eccleston, my new best friend.

    Happy blogwarming, Frances.

  12. Thanks, Neil. You're just in time to help with the washing up.
