Look where you're going!

Am I the only person who is disturbed when drivers in films turn to speak to their passengers for far longer than is safe? I find myself screaming at them to look at the road. I know it's all done in a studio, but they could at least add a bit of verisimilitude to the action.

And then there are the actors who run from the kitchen (to kiss somebody or shoot somebody) leaving a pan on the cooker, leaving me shouting :"the chips! You've forgotten the chips!"

And my third gripe is those who emerge from the loo and dash straight out, leaving me shouting:"you've forgotten to wash your hands!"

Does anyone else feel the same? Or am I being too fussy?

  2. You are not being too fussy. My personal gripe with films is that so often, when they are at a restaurant sitting at the table with their food and drink all there, something dramatic happens, they jump off their chairs and storm out, leaving the table with the food and drink untouched (and, presumably, the bill unpaid).
Highly unlikely to happen in real life, I say.

    1. Yes. People are always rushing out of pubs leaving their drinks. I never do that!

  3. Totally with you on the first one! The second and third I never really thought of before, but no doubt I will from now on... ;)

  4. I talk to the screen all the time! In fact, we have a popular show here with James Corden where he drives around singing in a car with celebrities. I want to say...shut up and drive, you don't need to be dancing about and singing in your car, that just invites young people to do the same.

  5. I was shouting the same thing the other evening, about the driver looking at his passenger for too long!

    1. Why do they do it, Rosemary? To look away for as long as they often do is a recipe for disaster.

  7. It's when they leave the children playing by the river bank or the traffic lights while they're gossiping ...

  8. I'm definitely with you on the car driving one. Films in a studio is one thing but so many programmes now are made with inside cameras focused on the driver who often talks directly to it. I think there is a prime facie case for driving without due care and attention or even dangerous driving.
