An important week

This is global handwashing week. Oh, and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has written a novel with a heroine called Lyric. She (T P-K, not Lyric) has also eaten two diamonds (all this from the first 5 minutes of Woman's Hour).

    She's EATEN two diamonds? Why? Or do I mean how? Was it an accident? Was she taking them through customs (don't want to think about retrieval). What's the story?!!

    I'm not sure exactly what happened, Alis, as I wasn't really concentrating, but I think she ate at least one of the diamonds by mistake (I mean, we've all done it haven't we?). She reckons it probably "ended up in her pancreas", but we who have had babies (and fed them on things like sweetcorn) know exactly where it ended up, and it wasn't in Ms T-P's pancreas.

    I don't know about Lyric, Nevets. I'm afraid you'll have to read the book.
