We spent Christmas night in a hotel in Reigate, between visits to sons. Apropos which, I've just filled in a quite extraordinary questionnaire. It ended with the injunction to make comments about what we enjoyed, and "type in things like shark diving, stargazing and vegetarian cuisine". Hmm. Since there were no sharks, and no stars (it was p****ng with rain), and we are not vegetarians, I was unable to help.
I would advise anyone who's thinking of looking for sharks in Reigate to think again. Trust me. There aren't any.
How was your Christmas?

Everyone still comes to us at Christmas, in dribs and drabs, so not sure if I'm looking forward to the day when we can go elsewhere, or if we sould hang on to the fact that we can still do it. Enjoyable anyway.
ReplyDeleteI recommend going elsewhere, Maggie. It's wonderful!
DeleteWell, how strange is that? Shark diving would not be on my Christmas list. Have a Happy New Year, Frances!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too, Yvonne.
DeleteNo one asked me to fill in a questionnaire Frances. I feel quite deprived. As for sharks (you've got to be kidding), and stargazing (I'm surprised that the light pollution around Reigate doesn't negate that even when it's not p***ing down). I had cauliflower cheese for dinner last night. It was good. I would say that, though, 'cos I made it.
ReplyDeleteWe had cauliflower cheese last night too!
DeleteI have dived with sharks, but not in Reigate. Our Christmas was (for us) perfect; for others I imagine it would have been seen as very 'quiet'.
ReplyDeleteDid you get bitten, CM?
DeleteShark diving does sound exciting, but I'll pass - I much rather have a cosy quiet Christmas with the family, the way we always do.
ReplyDeleteWe had a cosy time with two families, and it was wonderful. But not quiet...
DeleteSharks? Not surprised you didn't see them in Reigate. Sounds lovely being away for a few nights. Have a great New Year, Frances.
ReplyDeleteYou too, Rosemary.
DeleteRaining here too. And no sharks! ;)
ReplyDeletePhew! I bet that's a weight off your mind, DT.
DeleteMy mum lives very close to Reigate and she confirms that there are no sharks living there but her good friend Gwyneth does... will that do?
ReplyDeleteAh, but is Gwyneth a shark?
DeleteThat has made me smile, Frances. Sharks in Reigate, whatever next! x
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Teresa. But I intend to avoid doing anything with sharks!
DeleteThank you, Frances, for bringing a smile to my face while the day gets greyer and greyer outside. I love the title of this post. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanna. I thought it might make a good title for a novel. Like the Salmon Fishing one...?
