Seeing Susan, Felicity said,
"What on earth have you got on your head?"
"Don't you like it?" said Sue,
"Well, I can't afford new,
So it came from the lamp by my bed."

I know nothing about meter except that limericks are anapaestic and strictly AABBA. It's one of those quirky things I know but as I have absolutely no idea what anapaestic means it's never been any use to me - until now. It seems to me that this is limerick meter and form so I think it's ok.
I know what you mean - but for me, it's the image that makes me want to fiddle with it - probably just as big a challenge...LOL I take my hat off to you for pursuing the limerick laugh-a-minute, though.
I live with my husband in Devizes in Wiltshire where I spend my time writing, reading, riding (I am the lucky owner of a beautiful horse, Blue), and keeping up with my four children and an increasing number of small grandchildren (eight so far). I was for many years a nurse and a Relate counsellor. I have taught creative writing both at a local college and a prison, and I review a wide variety of items - including books - for the Amazon Vine programme.I write to death row prisoners in America, being a life-long opponent jof the death penalty. And I spend too much time blogging..

I'm glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYou have seen Royal Ascot, I see.
It gave me a smile...Thanks.
This doesn't rhyme or scan but I am just ignorant. Brilliant as always. Sure are you that you haven't got a Belloc gene in you.

DeleteDoes it matter? Not a jot. It's funny.
GB I think Adrian was referring to his own comment!
DeleteAdrian, thank you. Now p,ease tell us, what exactly was it that didn't scan?
DeleteHa ha ha.
ReplyDeleteWell thanks, CM
DeleteExcellent as usual.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. It seems to rhyme ( and scan, though not entirely sure what that means!) to me!
ReplyDeleteI think Adrian's first comment was a poem, and he was referring to that. I think...
DeleteOh, I see that now!
DeleteI hope she took the little wire doodah out first, or it's going to get jolly uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteOf course she did. She's a very bright (cue groan) girl.
DeleteClever take on an onerous prompt!
ReplyDeleteYvonne, I wish I didn't feel compelled to do these, but I find them a weekly challenge that often won't let go...
