I also have a lot of drawers, cupboards and under bed boxes like this…..NY resolution is to sort them out! PS…every time I post a comment on your blog, it disappears after about 3 seconds of finishing typing…this is the 2nd draft! I love that MacIntyre routine…so true.
Apart from the dead batteries which go into a recycling bag (I would't be able to get into the house never mind a drawer if I kept all my old batteries) I am ashamed to say that after a summer and autumn of clearing out 'stuff' I still have enough man drawers and man boxes in the loft to cause a container ship to list (I'm fed up with sinking battleships).
I live with my husband in Devizes in Wiltshire where I spend my time writing, reading, riding (I am the lucky owner of a beautiful horse, Blue), and keeping up with my four children and an increasing number of small grandchildren (eight so far). I was for many years a nurse and a Relate counsellor. I have taught creative writing both at a local college and a prison, and I review a wide variety of items - including books - for the Amazon Vine programme.I write to death row prisoners in America, being a life-long opponent jof the death penalty. And I spend too much time blogging..

I remember writing a blog post about this a couple of years ago and everyone said what they had in their 'Man Drawer'. It's a brilliant sketch.
ReplyDeleteI only came across this recently courtesy of a son. It's uncanny in it s accuracy, Wendy!
DeleteUmm... not really. But then you expected me to say this, didn't you :-D
ReplyDeleteOf course. I like to feel I'm getting to know you, Meike!
DeleteMy first (perhaps second) thought when I saw this was 'Well Meike won't have one'.
DeleteMy man has a box of wires. I made him minimalize the wire collection when we moved but it has mysteriously grown again:-)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing he left out was the watch, Martine. Every man drawer has to have an old watch.
DeleteI think we have one between us like this!
ReplyDeleteI think all ours are like this, Rosemary. I blame the drawers. Just too easy to bung things in and then forget about them.
DeleteOh dear, yes, we have several, but unlike Michael McIntyre, when my man wants to find something in the man drawer, guess what, he can't!
ReplyDeleteHe's looking in the wrong man drawer, Maggie.

Sprry about the blog problems, Frances. Out of my hands, I'm afraid. Glad you liked the clip.
