SEA FEVER REVISITED

I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I seek is a tall ship, and a star to steer her by.
But all I have is a rowing boat, moored inches from the land,
And not a hope of reaching her, for I'm up to my chest in sand.

(With apologies to Masefield, and thanks to Magpie Tals for the picture)

  2. Oh, what a lovely sound and feel this has. I would love to hear you read it on soundcloud. I can imagine it as the refrain of a song.

  5. Perfect, Frances. Now I can't imagine saying anything else about the prompt photo!
I usually don't read others' submissions until I've written my own, for precisely that reason. Silly me today!

  13. Thanks, everyone. Very generous comments for a rather lazy Magpie (I seem incapable of writing the longer, more thoughtful pieces that others manage...)
