Lady Thatcher's funeral

I'm so relieved this went off well and without violence. I only saw a snatch of it mymself because I was away all day. But my small granddaughter did see it, and having been warned that people might protest by turning their  backs to the cortege, was very shocked to see the police doing just that.

"Darling," said my daughter. "That's okay. It's called crowd control."

Phew.

  1. Isn't it great what the grandchildren say. I always think that I'll remember these special things but always forget them - I should write tham down.

  4. Regardless of my views on the person or the funeral I am very glad indeed that sanity prevailed (if not always decency). Needless to say here in NZ I saw nothing of it.

  5. Yes, very glad it went off without incident and the general atmosphere was respect for a politician who made a difference.

(GB - my sister watched it in full from Malta)

  6. How wonderful of your granddaughter. She had been told people might do that, so she was watching for it. Children are wonderful, but we never know what kind of confusion our remarks might cause in their lively little brains.
I'm also glad the went off without any horrible-awfuls like Boston. You do do those things so well.

    1. Thanks, Kay. (The same granddaughter said on the phone this evening that the answer to the world's financial problems would be for us all to be able to download and print off money. Well, it's a point...?)
