That'll teach me...

...to browse my stats (having finished one job, and putting off another, as one does). I was looking through my blog's "traffic sources", and on clicking on my main (and rather mysterous) one, found that it is apparently a hard porn website, and was immediatley confronted with - well- porn.

Hmm. Well, as a woman, I don't particularly want to entertain myself with  full-on views of women's bits (I saw enough of those - if you'll excuse the reference - at a time when my main job was performing cervical smears). I'm not shocked - it takes a lot to shock me, as Relate cousellors are trained not to be shocked by anything - just rather surprised.

Does anyone else's blogs have...er...unintended links with this kind of thing?

I  just wondered.

  1. I have noticed some odd looking site names in my traffic sources info. I haven't clicked on them as I rather suspect they'd show me things I'd prefer not to see.

    1. It looked perfectly innocent, Patsy, but I've learned my lesson!

  2. Frances, unfortunately I can't say I do. What browser are you using?
I have just finished your Fallen Women book and had tears in my eyes several times, some through laughter and some because you struck a sad chord. It's a really good read. I was surprised by the language but it really worked well in the safari park scenario. I really enjoy using the word. I have one more book of yours to read, I hope you have written more than three books. If not, could you get your arse in gear; write some more and stop messing with the horse and the next generation Garrood..... Please.

    2. I'll third it, Adrian and GB - we are all waiting for the next one (and yes I also have some very dubious links).

    3. Thanks for those kind remarks, Adrian (and GB and Wendy). I'm so glad you enjoyed the book, though sorry if it shocked you. But tarts are shocking, and you have to admit, this one's rather nice (one of my favourite home-made characters, in fact!).

Arse in gear, very soon. Just got to go and do the ironing/wash the floor/make a cake....

    4. Seriously further adventures of these three would be welcome. It Father Cuthbert could have a cameo appearance then that would be the icing on the cake you are baking.
I wasn't shocked I enjoy such language when it is in context.

  3. Haven't looked at my blog stats in a long time, but I would not be surprised to find similar links, since I often get spam comments that link to all sorts of unwholesome sites.
It is somewhat annoying, but still I do not want to resort to the dreaded word verification for comments.

    1. Google Chrome doesn't send any my way. I quite like a bit of naughty. Perhaps I'm on the wrong browser.

    2. Not fond of Google Chrome myself because of the huge amount of personal data it collects about its users (data protection and IT security is what I earn my living with).
Not being averse to a bit of naughty myself, so far, nothing that has come my way via spam comments has looked even remotely interesting.

    3. I so agree about the word verification, Meike. I think I must be a robot, as it usually takes me several tries to do it.

  4. I haven't looked at stats lately. Maybe just as well.

  5. Eeuuww. I don't think I want to know. I was interested a while back to find out plenty of people look at my blog but don't leave a comment (something like 5 to 1). Maybe I'd rather not know who they are.

  6. I have absolutely no idea. I can't remember ever looking at my stats which either says something for my memory or my disinterest. My real Blogland is small and I'm happy with that. I know people read it who don't comment and I'm happy with that too. Some tell me and some email me. All in all I'm a happy bunny. As I rarely if ever get spam or unwanted comments I assume that my blog lacks any sort of interest for those who indulge in such things. Alternatively Google and my browsers protect me. Qui sait?

    1. I never get spam, GB. This was just supposed to be the main source of my visitors. Hmm.

  7. Oh, dear - I never click on I don't recognise! But I don't check where the visits come from either.

  8. Best not to look; the net is awash with such things. Not interested!
