Some seasonal cheer (and a proud mum/granny)...

..because here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjAmWO0h9R8&feature=youtu.be s something that certainly cheered my up; my daughter and grandson having a sing. The track is a backing track; the voices, their own. Considering they were just messing about, and hadn't rehearsed at all,  I think  it's brilliant!

  1. Well, you can safely put those humbugs back in the cupboard, Frances. What a fantastic Christmas present and what wonderful voices. That brought a tear to my eye and my friends will tell you - I never cry!

    1. Thank you, Wendy. I didn't cry, but have to confess I was surprised that they pulled that off more or less spontaneously!

    1. Thanks, DT. She's only discovered her voice fairly recently, and now wishes she'd had some training earliier on.

  5. Brilliant!!! Has your daughter learn to sing (or inherited her great voice) from you, Frances?
One day, when your grandson will be grown up, he'll look at this again and realize how very, very precious this time with his mother was. From the way he acts, I guess he already does know that this is something to cherish.

    1. She's taken it up as a hobby fairly recently, Meike. She sings a lot in the car with the children, which helps! As for me, no. I can't sing like that (if only...), but I do enjoy singing in our very good church choir.

  7. Wow. I couldn't resist leaving a comment on YouTube. What a great rendition of a super old favourite. I enjoyed it tremendously.
And I love that seat they're sitting on. It looks like it's a cozy nook in the kitchen. Is it?
And yes, did your daughter inherit that powerful voice from you? I think she looks a bit like you, but I didn't have the video and your photo side by side to compare properly.

    1. Thanks for the comment, Kay. Yes - they're are on a small window seat in the kitchen. People say my daughter is like me, but of course we can't see it. Can one ever?

  8. A Christmas present that no money could ever buy. Such a precious moment and such skill and concentration without showing any difficulty: I found it hard even to concentrate enough to sing descant so appreciate that a lot.

    1. Thanks, GB. What is nice is that it was spontaneous and unrehearsed, and they were (and look as though they were) having fun.

I like to imagine you singing a descant...

    1. Thank you, Rosemary. I think I'm getting a parcel as well (well, I hope I am!). The cute grandson is totally bewildered by my enthusiasm. But I guess that's men (boys)...
