Road signs

This lovely sign (the one on the right) appeared on the blog of Broken Biro, and I hope she doesn't mind my pinching it.

It puts me in mind of a letter to the Times ages ago about the Elderly People Crossing sign, which, the writer suggested should mean Beware of Pick-pockets.

  1. I'm exhausted just trying to imagine the mind behind the sign:)

  2. I never wear mittens, but hadn't realised that's why I've never been chased by snakes.

  3. Yikes. I'm glad I don't wear mittens. We need a sign like the other one by my parents mailbox. And one at the top of the drive. And one by the back door and one in the kitchen. And come to think of it.....

    Thanks for the smile.

  4. I think when Richard Ingrams decided to make that the symbol of "The Oldie" he got lots of protest letters, which made him feel, apparently that he was definitely on the right track!

  5. Somewhere on the internet, I have once seen something similar about the pictures on safety cards you find in your seat pocket on planes. Some of them were rather "adult", but they were quite funny.
