Yes, yes, YES!

No. I'm not doing a Meg Ryan, but I've just this minute heard that my ancient and neglected ( but loved. I call it tough love) Ford Ka has passed its MOT ( it can be seen hiding behind Titch above). I was told a year ago that this was unlikely to happen, so I'm delighted (and, to be honest, gobsmacked).

Well, not quite passed. It needs ( you'll like this bit) a top mount for the Macpherson strut, an anti rollbar link arm, and a rack end (yes. I thought that was something culinary, too. But it appears I was wrong).

Good news on a horrible wet day! We shall celebrate tonight.

  1. Good news on the car! I have never heard of any of that little lot, though... Love the picture!

  2. I haven't heard of any of it either, Pat. I was just showing off!

  3. Excellent news re the car - do you have a name for him/her? (I had problems with my Macpherson strut once - but it is something I prefer not to dwell on, talk about...)

Titch is a fine looking specimen indeed - the car is definitely overshadowed by his presence.

    Enjoy your celebration!

  4. Get it sorted quickly, Frances. You don't want to be going around with an unmounted Macpherson strut - just think what people would say! (OK I confess I have no idea what one of them is and if offered a rack end I'd expect it to be served with roast potatoes and mint sauce)

  6. I have heard of Macpherson struts for some reason, although I have no idea what they are. Definitely not a Highland dance, it seems.

    1. Thanks, Rosemary. I was so worried that it would be next stop the scrapyard!

  8. Great news on the Ka - I'd never heard of any of that stuff! How fond we get of our cars - I'd hate to part with mine x

  9. I didn't know ordinary cars had rollbars - I thought they were for racing vehicles. Maybe that's your other hobby. Don't tell Titch, he'll be jealous.

  10. Me too ( re the roll bars), Maggie. But then I know nothing about cars. I just liked the diagnoses!

  11. The rollbar is an anti-tortion spring which.... Sorry nearly got carried away but as the only male commenting so far (and one who has dismantled and rebuilt a Morris Minor to boot) I had to demonstrate my knowledge. It's called an inferiority complex I believe.

    PS Congratulations.

    1. Did you say 'boot'? I know what a boot is (well, it's a start).
