I said it could never sleep on our bed...

It is not allowed on the bed. It's never been allowed on the bed. People let their cats, dogs, and sometimes babies sleep with them, but never me. I've always stood (lain?) firm. It lives downstairs. That's where it belongs. Downstairs. I'm a woman of my word. Right?

But there it was, sitting there, pleading. "You've had a nasty accident", it said. "You need me. You know you do. What with all the time you're spending up there. Lying down on your bed, moaning about the pain."

So I gave in. It's upstairs on the bed with me right now, helping me write this.

My lovely iPad.

  1. Oh, you got me with this one. I was trying to decide between dog and cat, fairly certain it was neither guinea pig nor hedgehog, but I didn't suspect iPad.
Silly me, however. An iPad is far more helpful than an 'edge 'og, don't you think? But those tiny 'edge 'og hands would be more useful than mine on some of the newfangled keyboards.
    Feel better soon.

    1. I have a very soft spot for guinea pigs, Kay. But not scuttling between the sheets!

    2. It's not just the scuttling they would do between the sheets that would upset me.

  3. Oh my goodness, Frances - for a minute there I thought... Titch! But I know you'd never refer to him as an it.
Thank goodness for your iPad x

  4. Titch isn't too good with stairs, Teresa (we're on four floors). Otherwise you just could have been right.

But the iPad is a life- saver (and terrible time- waster...).

  5. Ever since my sister got her ipad, she has become a lot more tolerant of me checking emails and doing other things on my iphone. And I must say they (ipads) are great when one is travelling; when we were in England in May, we checked the opening times of big houses, bus time tables, sent emails to our dear ones at home, and so on. Not that it would have been impossible without, but it was just so much easier.
Has the biggest bruise they've ever seen already begun to shrink?

    1. Meike, the bruise is spreading! But the iPad is still great.

    3. Neither have I but I was interested in watching the programme which my husband I did, but I wish that had chatted more with the author about her writing. Guess more people are interested in the naughty bits than her writing skills or am I a bit odd :-)

  7. You can be soooo funny Frances. I was about to launch into my cat not in bedroom story. It has never occurred to me not to allow my iPad into the bedroom but then, apart from the fact that the only room in which I cook is the kitchen. most of the rooms in my house serve a myriad of functions.

  8. GB I do my reading in bed. As soon as I've recovered the iPad goes back downstairs. It knows it's on borrowed time.
