Magpie 125

When John Constable painted "Hay Wain",
People asked, "could you do that again?"
"No problem!" he cried.
But however he tried
The result somehow wasn't the same.

(With thanks To Tess at Magpie Tales for the picture)

  1. Well, this is interesting. One might wonder, could it ever be the same? And should it be?

  4. Hi Frances, this posts reminds me of me thinking about a story idea and thinking 'Sure I can remember that and write it all down as it came in my head' - doesn't work that way.:-)

    1. Yes. I've always thought its a bit like drawing, say, a horse. You know in your head what a horse looks like, but trying to draw it is a different matter!

    1. Thanks, Joanna. I agre about the original. Rather dark and dull!

  7. The production was hardly worth mention
But they paid him off, to avoid tension.
    They sent back the dray
And the horse and the hay -
And then waited for Thomas Hart Bention.

  8. Tommy said, please don't mind if I borrow
Some ideas from my buddy Pissaro.
'Cause he sure had a way
    With a bundle of hay...
And I'll give you the painting tomorrow.

    1. Two brilliant limericks! But who is T H Bention??

    2. Thomas Hart Benton (the additional "i" was for limerickian effect) is the guy who painted the magpie prompt pic!
