The enduring joy of Poohsticks

On Saturday, I cheered myself up by joining my son and his family for a picnic. We spent a happy hour or so playing Poohsticks on this bridge. Passers-by, who had to climb over (some of) us were not amused, but we had a great time.

I lost.

  1. What sort of creatures were those unamused passers-by? Certainly not human. I'd have joined in.

  3. I despair of some people - the passersby that is not you and your family. Defeat can be hard to take but remember that its the taking part that matters.

  4. Gee, now I feel underprivileged. Not only have I never played this game, I never heard of it before. (But win or lose, it looks like fun!)

  5. Lovely innocent fun and shame on the passers-by for not joining in with it.

    1. I suppose we were making rather a lot of (cheerful) noise...

  6. Well, "poo" to those passers by. They don't know what fun they missed.

  7. See a bridge - drop something (preferably a stick) over one side, and see whose gets to the other side first. Simples! Hope I'm right in thinking that's what Poohsticks is?

    1. Exactly right, Maggie. But we used flowers and leaves as well.

  8. Bah to the miserable old passers-by! Who on earth could object to a family having fun in such a thoroughly nice way? The pictures are lovely x

    1. They didn't exactly complain, Rosemary, but they just gave us Looks!

  11. You might not have won, Frances but you didn't lose out in the way those passers-by did.

  12. I, too, would have been down there with you joining in. If you haven't played Poohsticks then you haven't lived.
