How do I get rid of....

...regular and multiple updates from a blog I don't follow? It calls itself My Private Blog, and seems devoted - in every sense, and more than one language - to the art of needlework. I LOATHE needlework of all kinds, and am not fond of this blogger. I haven't opened his/her link, as I suppose it could be a scam.

Has anyone else had similar visits? And how do I get shot of it? Four posts this morning already.

  1. If it is coming via e-mail notifications then just mark as Spam and delete. After a few goes it should go to your spam folder which can be deleted once a week or so. You could try reporting it to Google but it's probably not worth it.
I could have done with a look at that this morning as a button flew of my trousers. I managed to sew it back on so no worries.

    1. I don't know how it comes, Adrian, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to live with it. Sigh.

    2. Just recalled, open another free e-mail address and use that for your blog. You will have to go into settings etc. to do it once you have the new e-mail. Don't get an AOL one. Yahoo or Google is fine. Let me know if you have trouble linking it to Blogger and I will send a set of destructions. With screan grabs if yu are dislexic like wot I am.

  2. I have the same problem, Frances. My husband traced it to another blog I used to follow, by Gail Crane. It also came under My Private Blog and it seems because I followed that one, I am now, annoyingly, being sent these needlework posts. We have tried without success to get rid of them, but still haven't found a solution. Will let you know if we do. x

  3. I would suggest you block the sender. Good luck! It is probably easier said than done to do this...

    1. Jenny, in my experience almost impossible. If you stop using your blog then delete it as they get taken over by annoying people. I have some audio on mine which I thought was SiteMeter. It isn't. Drives me nuts but I guess Google are earning from it. I am just happy Blogger is free but if they don't sharpen their act then I'll think about paying a bit for a website.

    2. Jenny, thank you, but I think Adrian's right. There doesn'tseem to be any means of blocking it.

  4. I have lots of sites that come through on my Facebook timeline newsfeed. I showed an interest in one site and it seems that everything linked to that site also come through on my timeline. Of course, I don't have to look at my timeline, so it doesn't really bother me.

    1. I'm not a fan of Facebook, Maggie, so I doubt whether it comes from there.

  5. Not easy. I did eventually find how to block someone, a year or so ago, but he found his way back. I don't think there's a foolproof answer.

  6. I guess you once clicked 'followed by email' on a different blog and that's somehow got transferred over. The only times I've done that deliberately there was an option on each to discontinue getting them - and I eventually took that option on them all. Even when I'm interested in reading the blog, the notifications can be annoying.

    1. I do't think I've evenr clicked on 'follow by email', Patsy, unless I did it in my sleep. I'd be interested to know what the blog is like (well, nust a tiny bit interested), but daren't open the link, just in case...
