Magpie 236 - a Nursery Magpie
Mary had three little moths,
They flew too near the light.
They fried their wings and feelers
(For those moths just weren't that bright).
Mary had a little goat,
She kept it by her bed.
It chewed up Mary's bedside lamp,
And now, the goat is dead.
Mary had a little lamb,
You think you know this rhyme?
You don't. For Mary's parents
Served it up, with mint and thyme.
Mary now has three more moths,
She keeps them in a jar.
She feeds them honey sandwiches.
They're still alive. So far.
(With thanks to Tess at Magpie Tales for the picture.)

Lol!
ReplyDeleteMary had a Timex watch
She swallowed it one day
And now she's taking Beechams Pills
To while the time away.
L, I thought it was to"pass" the time away??
DeleteThanks, anyway!
I would enjoy these in a book. It would be nice to have them all together.
ReplyDeleteYou're very sweet, Adrian, but I'm afraid there wouldn't be much of a market for it ;(
DeleteRolling on floor laughing out loud ....
ReplyDeletePlease don't hurt yourself, Helen!
DeleteFrances had a little pen
ReplyDeleteShe used it quite a lot
Today she wrote about a hen
Then put it in the pot.
I know. Completely irrelevant. But it's a comment.
Full marks for effort, Graham, but I didn't use a pen, and there was no hen, either.
DeleteSo funny. Long live Mary's three new moths!
ReplyDeleteAnd may they have no more goats or lambs ever again!
Thank you, Karen!
