Lounge (part 3)

I had to end with this (see my last two posts for context). This is a picture in the dining area, which even to the most innocent is suggestive. It's huge, and this photo (taken from my sister's wheelchair) doesn't do it justice. A woman's face with the lips sucking at one of two...er...cherries. So suitable for the elderly and disabled, don't  you think?

Bring back Constable's  Hay Wain! It's not my favourite picture, but at least it's gentle and rural and inoffensive.

I'll now leave this subject for the time being. I'm beginning to  upset myself.

  1. I don't think it is suitable for folk of any age or capacity. It looks as if it should be on the cover of a naughty magazine.

    This is much better.

  3. Really makes one wonder if they got it all cheap because someone else did not want it...

  4. Goodness! I am speechless (which does not happen all that often).

  5. Someone should be held accountable for this kitsch. The "artwork" is more suited to a brothel!

    1. L, I think the resident should sell it, and the furniture, on eBay.

  6. I was going to make a cynical comment about how that recently (and rightly) rejected bill (you know the one I mean) might have been being promoted...

  7. It just goes to prove that you should NEVER allow Poundland to design your interiors!

  8. Even if you ignore the suggestiveness, the picture isn't suitable for such a position. It's too simple - the kind of thing you can take in at a glance as you pass through. For a lounge area where people will be faced with it for an extended period, something which reveals more with careful study would be better.

The whole area seems designed to make people feel uncomfortable and go elsewhere. Maybe that was the design brief?

  9. I think Patsy's right, it seems designed to encourage people not to stay in those rooms. And that picture is horrible xx

  10. It is totally beyond my comprehension and it is offensive/unfeeling on so many levels.

  11. It is completely tasteless and offensive, as well as horribly dull. Highly unsuitable for any home.

    1. It's thoroughly nasty, Joanna. And worse in the...flesh (sounds odd about a picture).
