Another week of things learnt

1. The best way of finding those tiny splinters of glass I  thought I'd  swept up is to walk about in bare feet.

2. That having spend some years doing the daily "difficult" sudoku in The Times, it is galling to discover that eleven year old grandson, unpractised and untutored, can do it in half the time.

3. And that he can beat me at Scrabble, even when I'm trying. And I thought I was quite good at Scrabble.

4. The M25 really is the motorway from hell (I used to think it was second to the M6, but not any more).

5. An interesting fact about number palindromes, courtesy of Adrian. Thank you, Adrian.

6. That the man up the lane may have ....a problem, but he has shouted at me once too often. I have feelings, too.

7. That I've really got nothing to say, but writing this gives me an excuse to sit down and do something mindless, which I need after the rigours of half term (see 2&3 above).

  1. (2). Try the Telegraph Sudukos. I find them much harder than the Times but the Telegraph crossword is easier.

(5). You are more than welcome.

    1. Thank you, Adrian. Not sure about the Telegraph but I do prefer its crossword.

  2. A question about palindrome and Lychrel numers is just what I can imagine coming up at the next pub quiz. Well, I shall be ready!
Reg. # 6 - a man shouts at you? regularly?!

    1. I think the man up the lane deserves a post of his own. I'm thinking about it...

  3. I've done number 1, ouch! I can only do simple sudukos. Sounds like you have a budding genius in the family. I popped over to Adrian's blog and learnt something new too. The man up the lane is worrying. Avoiding him is the best policy.

  4. Isn't is the pits that we can't choose our neighbours? In the past when confronted by a nasty person (which was a regular occurence during my time as school director) I tried the tactic of being overly nice and complimentary before walking away or in my case showing them the door. It worked a treat. There really is no need to be nasty to anyone. Life is just too short. I hope your grumpy neighbour is kinder to you in future. Have a lovely week, Frances. Sending you lots of positive thoughts across the ether to compensate for old grumpy boots.

  5. I've learned a lot of things since you wrote that, Frances. I've also forgotten a lot of things that I learned. Son perhaps the greatest thing that I've learned is that I have a terrible memory. I can't wait to read the rest of your posts and find out about Grumps.
