Petrol prices and boiled kittens

So the chancellor is being really generous, and not putting petrol prices up by three pence. This, says he, will "help families and businesses".

No it won't. Since when has not doing something become a positive? Does that mean that by not beating up little old ladies or robbing banks I'll be helping to cut crime figures? Or does my not boiling kittens make ours a more humane society?

The world's gone mad.

  4. Same as Yvonne, I when I saw your post title on my dashboard, I thought, gods, do I really want to read that?
Well, your chancellor is generous. Ours is... a little over-dramatic these days and speaks of her job like the Queen would speak of hers, something that's there to hold on to FOR LIFE.

    1. As you know, our chacellor isn't the same as yours. He just does the money. I'm SO glad we have an apolitical queen. I'm a great fan!

  5. A simple logical syllogism:

Societies which boil kittens are inhumane
    We boil kittens
    Therefore we are inhumane.

However if one were to accept the statement

“Societies that do not boil kittens are humane”
    We do not boil kittens
    Therefore we are humane.

What wonderful posers you do post Frances.

  7. I think we should all turn our negatives into positives today. Well said Frances.

  8. Good idea, Maggie. Well, today I didn't hit the tiny little ( and very canny) woman who jumped the queue in front to me at the market. So that's the Devizes violent crime control sorted. At least, for today.
