But the week-end wasn't all bad...

...because we went to a beautiful country house/adventure playground with the grandchildren, and we saw this beech tree. And beech trees in new leaf are (for me) the epitomy of spring.

(For a modest mobile phone, it takes a mean photo!)

    1. Thanks, Tim. I've kept it as my screen saver, and it cheers me up every time I look at it.

  2. That is a beautiful picture. I love the way the sunlight is filtering through the leaves.

    1. Thanks, Joanna. Beech trees are especially good at that, aren't they.

  3. It really is a beautiful picture, and I wouldn't have guessed it was taken with a mobile phone. Mine (the first generation iphone, nowadays a museum piece, looking at the pace at which new models are thrown at us) doesn't have a good camera, I'm afraid, which is why I am still walking around with TWO gadgets in my handbag instead of one.

    1. Thanks, Meike. I'm a terrible photographer, so was pleased with this!

  4. I have a new phone and it takes better photos than my camera (the Dorset photos on my blog were all from my phone). It means one less gadget to take out with you (referring back to your earlier post on gadgets we don't need). I agree, Frances, the trees are so beautiful when the leaves are new and fresh.
