Magpie 224

PUZZLE

"When I look in the mirror," said Fred,
"And I see my reflection, instead
Of the sight of my face
I see, in its place,
A view of the back of my head."

Said his wife, "I'm avoiding that glass,
And hope such anomalies pass.
When I  tried it, instead
Of a view of my head
I was 'faced' with a view of my a***."

(With thanks to Tess at Magpie Tales)

  2. Why did she see her ankle?
I see now. I saw an asterisk too many.
    I'll keep off the drink.
By the way this is an early example of Droste.
You have a gift for this malarkey.

    1. Perish the thought, Adrian, that I should be pedantic or, Frances, that I should use the vehicle of your blog for such pedantry or contradiction of a fellow commenter but I don't think that is the Droste effect. The old Persil (I think it was Persil) washing powder packet had a picture of a Persil washing powder packet and it went on and on: a picture within a picture. I am always open to correction (I've got to that age) but I think that was the Droste effect.

    3. GB, there should be a comma after "commenter". Please leave poor Adrian alone. He's doing his best, bless him.

    4. Graham, you are correct. I think it was a cocoa advert though.
      Thank you Frances...I think.

    1. GB, every week I look at the Magpie, and try to resist as its such a waste of time. But then I just have to do it. (I known there's a missing apostrophe, so I'll save you the trouble of telling me.)

I can just see that guy in the mirror turn round and laughing his head off! No, mister, don't do it or there will be no reflection at all LOL
