Drink up your greens


My son's solution to a non-greens-loving son: make a "milkshake" with (wait for it) spinach, banana and strawberries. His children loved it. It looks a bit like very dirty pond water, thickened with macerated pondweed and tadpoles.

If you'd like the recipe, I'm sure he'd be happy to oblige.As for me,  I think I'll give it a miss.

  2. Spinach is one of my favourite foods, and I like all fruit (although I am not too keen on pineapple and lychee). But, like Monica, I prefer them on their own :-)

  4. It seems an unlikely combination, but if it works you can't knock it. Your son sounds like a very responsible parent. I don't think I could have persuaded my kids to drink green gunge.

  5. It looks and sounds like Spirulina (a New Zealand drink) but as it's not red and in a 750cl bottle (and it's evening as I post this comment) I think I, too, will give it a miss.

  6. Does it really do them any harm if they are a little slow in coming round to greens? I cook fairly regularly for my grandchildren and confess that I don't make a thing about it.
