Small and sprightly is the way to be

After a lifetime's observation of my fellows, I have decided that I am the Wrong Shape

I've often wondered why I have less energy than small, slim people, and I still don't know the answer, but what I do know is that theirs is the best shape to be. I've posted before about our amazing neighbour, who is much older than I am and has ten times my energy. And then there is our friend, Di, who at eighty plus bounces about and wears her poor husband out. And just now, when I was  at the lovely horsey place buying horsey things, there was this small, sprightly assistant, whose colleagues say she rushes about "like a hamster in a wheel".

I am tall. I am not at all fat, but could never be described as sprightly. I often lack energy. I'll just have to live with it. Sigh....

  1. Hyper-active they are. It's jumping up in crowds to see what we can see that keeps them fit.

  4. One of the most energetic and active ladies I know is up every morning and frequently at the swimming pool before I'm awake (and I'm usually up and about well before 7). She's in her late 70s and is inches over 6 ft tall. There's hope for you yet Frances.

  6. I'm tall (5'11 3/4"), not un-slim, and 70 + 362/365ths years old. I've just taken out a full wheelie bin and hauled in an empty one, and I'm slightly knackered. Not sure whether to blame or thank gin for this mixed result - experiment just started...

    1. Depends what was in the wheelie bin and how much gin was involved, Tim.

  8. A lady from our writing group is the same age as the queen (86). She has just been on an activity holiday, climbing ropes, rowing and goodness knows what else. She is small and skinny!

  9. Wish I was more sprightly! My mother was small and fairly slim and sprightly until she died in her early 80s. She never learned to drive and walked everywhere (and loved to dance) so maybe that helped.

  10. YOu see - another example! It's the energy I envy, Rosemary.
