The Virgin on the blanket box

This is the hardest of all, not least because it doesn't come out well in the photo. But for years, I've seen this figure in a dark skirt (slightly to the right), with a circle of stars not quite round her head (well, actually to her left) on the pine box we use as a coffee table.

And because of this, some time ago I wrote a mad novel called The Virgin of the Hen House, which was (rightly) rejected by my publisher. Without the Virgin the novel would have been quite sensible. I blame the blanket box.

And that's the last. I promise. Well, for the time being, anyway.

  2. I think this a rather eccentric hobby Frances. I do se a figure although, as I don't see a circle of stars, once again I think I may bee seeing a slightly different one. I could draw it for you though.

  3. I can see the half-circle of stars behind her, and also a cloud-like halo over her head. The dark part I see as a bag she is carrying, however.
I used to see faces in the ceiling when I was young, and of course my brother and I spent many hours looking for critters in the clouds. We lived in a valley, beside a long but narrow lake, surrounded by hills, so the clouds were changing constantly.

  4. She is clearly visible, once you point her out, although the semi-circle of stars is quite far off her head (at least that is what it looks like to me).
It would be interesting to read your mad novel, Frances!

  7. She's very clear, both virgin and her stars. And I love the title of the novel too. x

  8. I can see someone with bulging eyes, a squashed nose and a mouth with a vertical slit. Now, please stop it Frances.
