Dead Ernest lives again
This is the new cover for Dead Ernest, which is being re-issued in the new year by Sapere Books. I think it's much better than the old one, except that Ernest would probably have cleaned his boots. But you can't win 'em all, and I really love it. (.And Ernest's still dead, so he can't complain.)

I detest new covers on books I have read. It is a good read but not in the two read category. I want a new read at about four hundred pages please miss.
ReplyDeletePolite, as ever, Adrian. And yes. There are a couple of new ones in the pipeline, but it's a long pipeline....They are, however, more or less finished.
DeleteI don't remember the old cover because somehow, when one reads on Kindle, the cover doesn't stick in one's memory the same way that books in one's physical bookshelves do...
ReplyDeleteI think that's why this one's an improvement, DT. It's simpler and clearer.
DeleteLike Monica says, I didn't remember the old cover - until I scrolled a bit further down and saw it on your blog's side bar. I did remember that it also showed a pair of wellies!
ReplyDeleteYou said in reply to Adrian's comment that there are a couple of new books more or less finished - YAY!!!
You're very kind, Meike! One is being edited, and the other...well. We shall see. It's a rather grisly murder, very different from my other books. I don't yet know whether anyone will accept it...
DeleteCan I order in a book shop Frances?
ReplyDeleteSadly not, Maggie. Sapere are a digital and print on demand publisher, so it would have to be ordered from Amazon. But I do have some copies of the old editor iif you're interested? My email is on the side bar.
DeleteI have lost my original copy...probably gave it away as I enjoyed it so much! Would love to read it again...one of my favourite books ever.
ReplyDeleteThat's so kind, Frances. Thank you.
DeleteA dead man's dirty boots, eh?
ReplyDeletePatsy, if I were to drop dead, I can assure you I'd leave behind some very dirty boots!
DeleteI enjoyed The Birds and Bees so I'll give this one a go when it comes out. Good luck with the sales, Frances.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Keith. Dead Ernest is still available on Kindle, but will be out in a different format in the new year.
DeleteOne of the best first lines EVER! A book I thoroughly enjoyed (as I did your other two books). This is my first foray into Blogland for a while given that I've been hors de combat. It's cheered me up no end.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Graham. I do hope that you're improving after all your recent ordeals?
DeleteAgree with Graham, "One of the best first lines EVER!"
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Jill. How kind!
DeleteGreat cover - I loved this book.
