Magpie 144

When Cedric went fishing in Gallway
He left both his coats in the hallway.
His binoculars, too,
(Since there was wasn't a view).
Now he's drowned. And he's missed. (In a small way.)

(With thanks to Tess at Magpie Tales for the picture)

  7. The painting is lovely, somewhat reminiscent of Andrew Wyeth's work or John Singer Sargent's. Your perfectly composed limerick has made me view it in a different way, though. The limerick makes me happy, but the painting now makes me sad.

    Well done, Frances!

  8. Oh, my goodness, I just checked over at Magpie Tales and the painting IS by Andrew Wyeth! I'm more erudite than I thought!

As my mother used to tell me, "Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back...."

  11. Hopefully poor Cedric was wearing his hand-knit Irish wool sweater and they were able to identify him by the woven pattern! (One of the many little facts learned on my trips to Ireland!) Clever little Limerick-- Nice to see a bit of a different style here!
