Halloween

I'm not a particular fan of Halloween, but my crazy daughter is, and having discovered that at 16,  her children have outgrown Halloween parties, she's having one herself. Although not bothered about the party, her daughter did carve this amazing pumpkin for it. She gets her artistic talent from her (this)grandmother, naturally...

So - if you're into Halloween, have a happy one!

  2. I am not a fan of Halloween either...there was no such thing when I was a child, and not even on the radar when my kids were growing up...youngest is 30 ! It is just a glorified protection racket really , and a commercial opportunity! Some years ago a group of about 6 young teenage boys came to our door. They were not dressed up at all, and one of them was making sure my husband could see that he had a knife ! A neighbour had followed them as they had ripped some bushes up in his garden. We got rid of them and phoned the police. Next morning one of the lads was brought to our door by his father to apologise. My husband didn't quite know what to say apart from"choose your friends more carefully !"

    1. I think Halloween can be quite threatening, especially for people living on their own. But my ditsy daughter just loves it!

  3. I'm not, but the carving is great! (I eat too many sweets all year round, so another sweets-laden holiday is really not what I need. I love all things pumpkin, though; pumpkin soup, ravioli, secco... you name it, I eat or drink it!)

  4. I'm not a Halloween lover either. There are no children in my township anyway. I did once 'carve' a pumpkin when I was staying with a friend in Canada many years ago. I admire your daughter's skill involved in carving the pumpkin.

  5. I loved dressing up when a child, as did my own children but that's as far as it went. Love that carving!

  6. It's art. When I was a kid we were somewhat limited with a turnip.

    1. Adrian, I'd love to believe you carved a turnip, but I'm afraid I don't!

  7. I turn down all the lights and don't answer the door. We had no trick or treaters last night or the year before. Think they've got the message?
