We writers are very bad at promoting ourselves. It's so hard to tell people how wonderful your books are, but that's what you have to do if you want to sell them. This time around, with three of my books being relaunched, and the publicity people working like mad, I feel I have to do my bit. So - some readers on Goodreads have been sent review copies of Dead Ernest, and I've had some lovely reviews, which you cans see here
That's all. And thank you for reading this. I know that the writers among you will understand!

Good luck. Self promotion is the hardest thing to do. I suspect that modesty and insecurity get in the way. I bet there is a self help book available.
ReplyDeleteYou will have noticed that Amazon Kindle books are increasing in price. That ought to be good for you. Quinton Letts is trying for £8.99p for his new book. I'll wait a while.
Thank you, Adrian. However, higher prices aren't always good, as they mean fewer readers. I'd rather have more readers!
DeleteI read about six books a month. If they are three pounds for over four hundred pages. I have just looked for this months and the new ones from Stuart McBride, Peter May et al are all silly money. I like a mix of political and whodunnits with a bit of humour thrown in. I have noticed that humour is rare. I guess folk don't like being laughed at. Even the left wing humorists have become PC. Just like the lasses on TV at the film award love in wearing bugger all but don't want me to lust. Silly girls.
DeletePS. I can recommend The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist. A brilliant book and one I have read twice! It's cheap an all.
DeleteI'll look it up, Adrian.
DeleteAs I already own the three books from you available for Kindle, I am not going to buy them a second time with the relaunch, but shall be eagerly awaiting # 4.
ReplyDeleteMy reviews are all on Amazon.
I know, and I really appreciate your support, Meike.
DeleteSuperb reviews...exactly what I would write if I were a writer! I find it hard to say much about books at book club apart from I liked it or I didn't ! Not sure if book club read "Ernest" a few years ago, but if not, it will be my suggestion for the next round. I am reading Pearl S. Buck " The Good Earth" at the moment, my book club suggestion for this time round....not got far, but really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Frances. You're very kind. The kindle edition of DE will be just 99p, so an inexpensive book club choice (provided people have kindles!). The paperback will be more expensive.
DeleteDo you know when the Kindle edition will be available? I would love to read it again. As a Kindle "app" is available ( that is what I have) all could access it!
DeleteFrances, it's being relaunched on March 1st. I'm so glad you want to read it again. Thank you!
DeleteThat's awesome. I do understand.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne. I knew you would!
DeleteAll I can say, Frances, is that I hope that Dead Ernest (one of my favourite reads) has the success it so richly deserves.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Graham.
DeleteI absolutely agree with Graham above. It was through Dead Earnest that I ‘met’ you in blogland all those years ago.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy. Blogland is a good place to meet people. One fellow-blogger took us on a conducted tour of Skye last year. We'd never met, and he is a lovely person and now a friend.
DeleteI must have given my copy away to someone !
ReplyDeleteDead Ernest is one of my favorite reads too and, like Wendy, I met your blog through reading this book. Wishing you all the best in the relaunch.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jill. You're very kind!
